Today we continue our narrative journey, dedicated to the main raw materials used to produce our botanical liqueurs.
Wild Thyme, scientifically known as Thymus serpyllum. In the heart of Sicily, where unspoiled nature meets age-old traditions, this special ingredient makes Casa Nepeta's Thyme unique, giving it a distinctive character.
A harmony of aromas and flavours
Wild thyme is a perennial plant belonging to the Lamiaceae family. It is distinguished by its slender, creeping stems, small, elliptical leaves, and pink-purple flowers clustered in compact inflorescences. This plant exudes an intense balsamic scent, enriched with citrus and spicy notes, which gives Thymus its unmistakable aromatic bouquet.
Aromatic characteristics
A true symphony of aromas. Its chemical composition, dominated by essential oils such as thymol, carvacrol, geraniol, and borneol, offers a surprisingly rich and multifaceted olfactory profile.
On a sensory level, its main aromatic notes include: Balsamic and resinous: a fresh and penetrating scent, reminiscent of Mediterranean scrub woods after rain. Citrusy and floral: light but persistent hints of lemon zest and wildflowers, which give brightness to the aroma.
Spicy and herbaceous: dry and intense notes reminiscent of sage, rosemary, and a light hint of white pepper.
Earthy and wild: a warm and enveloping base that evokes the minerality of the Sicilian soil.

Casa Nepeta has expertly captured the essence of marjoram in its Timous, combining it with that of bergamot and Italian helichrysum. All without added refined sugars, only a small percentage of natural chestnut honey, for lovers of "Traditional Amaro".
An infusion of wild thyme (thymus capitatus), bergamot and Italian helichrysum.
Combined and mixed only subsequently, they reveal the immediate pungent flavor of thyme at the first sip, then rounded in the mouth by hints of chocolate and vanilla from the helichrysum and the spicy ones from the bergamot.
Finally, notes of hay, wood and cut grass that survive in the mouth minutes after the first sip and bring to mind all the scents of the Sicilian countryside.
Sugar-free, a strong experience to be enjoyed while smoking a good cigar!
